RTI is an Act passed by the Indian Parliament in year 2005 under which any Indian Citizen has got right to obtain information from any public authority / Organization about their functioning, administration, Recruitment etc. Any Individual can get any information like recruitment process, results or about admission procedure through RTI. There is a formal way to get information through RTI.

The step by step systematic procedure to file RTI application correctly to get Information:

To avail RTI services the applicant has to do a One Time Registration.

  1. Click on the menu ‘One Time Registration’.
  2. Fill all the details carefully
  3. Click ‘Check duplicate’ button and verify the details you entered.
  4. Click ‘Submit’ button you will get your Register number and note it.
  5. Select RTI services from main menu then select ‘Normal Application’ and select ‘English’ / ‘Malayalam’.
  6. Select the registration number from the list of registration you made by you, then your details will be displayed.
  7. Fill the RTI specific details liken department, District, Office, the question etc.
  8. Verify details and Click ‘Submit’ button
  9. Take Printout of your application using ‘Print’ button.
  10. Click ‘Make Payment’ button, you will be directed to the Payment Gateway. Follow the Instructions there in after completing the process, you will be redirected to the E-District portal
  11. Now, you can print the receipt which will have all details.

The essential requirements of an application filed under the RTI Act are:

  • The applicant should be a citizen of India
  • The application should contain the particulars of information sought
  • The evidence of payment of application fee should be enclosed.
  • The address of the applicant should be available for sending a reply.

Personal details except those necessary for contacting an applicant are neither required to be mentioned nor can be called by the PIO.
